10009 Credit: 3 Term: Fall 2015 This course is a continuation of skills and concepts introduced in CTS 1831. The course covers web page development including HTML forms, frames and cascading style sheets, Javascript, and VBScript. Simplifying web site maintenance will be a focus. Transferring of information between client and server is covered, including forms, cookies and queries. CTS1831 New Perspectives on HTML and CSS 6th Edition: Comprehensive ISBN:978-1-111-52644-3 by Patrick Carey Students must have access to a computer with Microsoft Windows 7.0 or 8.0, Notepad ++ and Internet connectivity. If you do not have a computer that meets these requirements, LSSC computer labs in our campus Libraries and Learning Centers provide all of the necessary programs needed to complete the work for this course.

It is the student’s responsibility to have an alternative plan if their main computer system fails or encounters technical issues that prevent the Technology and Online completion of required assignments by the specified due date (i.e. – complete work on-site at a campus library or learning center, have a secondary Computer Access computer available, etc.).

Requirements:

Computer hardware, software and/or printer problems are not acceptable excuses for incomplete or late assignments.

Course Objectives: (what the course will do)

This course requires a computer system, which meets the minimum specifications for BLACKBOARD access. Blackboard is an online class management system where you will access course related materials such as lectures, videos, quizzes, tests, etc. Please visit http://www.lssc.edu/dl to make certain your computer system meets the minimum requirements for BLACKBOARD. This course is designed to enable the student to develop familiarity with and confidence in the use of HTML 5 web coding, and to enable the student to use proper tag HTML 5 coding to solve problems. Good problem solving, Web Authoring design, and presentation techniques will be discussed and modeled.

Punctuality, attendance and class participation are essential for success. Students are responsible for ALL materials discussed in class. If you are late or absent, it is YOUR responsibility to obtain class notes, handouts and lab assignments. Attendance / Withdrawal Policies: If you wish to withdraw from the course, you must go to the Admissions Office and submit the formal course withdrawal form by the withdrawal deadline.
