Installing the Vuzix M300 Alpha SDK This guide is written for the Alpha version of the Vuzix M300 SDK.

Note: If you are using an SDK package without an addon.xml file, simply extract the contents of the SDK package into a folder named “addon-vuzix_m300_sdk_addon-vuzix-23” in the add-ons directory of your Android SDK installation and restart Eclipse (if it was running). Everything should be set up and ready to proceed to the “Using the SDK Add-on” section. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Open the Android SDK Manager from within Android Studio. In the SDK Manager, select the “SDK Update Sites” tab. Click the green + symbol to the right of the list to add a new site. Enter the following address in the URL field and click OK:

https://www.vuzix.com/t20p22dQ4B/addon.xml 5. Select the “SDK Platforms” tab to begin scanning the new site. The SDK Manager will refresh with the M300 SDK Add-on component under the Android 6.0 section. You may need to expand the list by 6. 7. 8. 9.

clicking the “Show Package Details” checkbox in the lower-right corner. Select the “SDK Tools” tab to find the M300 Device Profile component. Select the boxes next to the components you wish to install and click either the “Apply” or “OK” button. The SDK Manager will now start downloading and installing the packages. After the SDK Manager finishes downloading and installing the new packages, you will find an M300 hardware profile and M300 system image available for use when creating new virtual devices.

Creating an M300 Virtual Device Note: The M300 skin is included in the M300 Alpha SDK package. Both the M300 Alpha SDK package and the M300 Device Profile must be installed to use the M300 skin on an M300 emulator. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11.

Open the Android Virtual Device Manager. Click “Create Virtual Device…” in the bottom-left corner to open the Virtual Device Configuration window. Select the “M300” hardware profile in the list of devices and click “Next”. Select the Marshmallow image for x86_64 that is labeled as “Vuzix Corporation” in the details pane and click “Next”. On this page you can configure the hardware settings of the M300 emulator, or just use the default settings provided. If you do not wish to use the M300 emulator skin, then just click “Finish” to complete the AVD configuration. Otherwise, click “Show Advanced Settings”. Scroll down to the “Device Frame” section and click on the blue drop-down box to open the list of skins. Click on the “M300” skin in this list. Click “Enable Device Frame” to tell the emulator to use this skin. Now click “Finish”. The AVD should now appear in the list. Click the green triangle on the right side to start the M300 emulator. This may take some time to start depending on how powerful your computer is.
