Installed (2012)

Biennale di Venezia, Italy

Design for the Dutch Pavilion of the Architecture Biennale in Venice Client: Netherlands Institute of Architecture Architect: Gerrit Rietveld Re-Set, new wings for architecture Place: Dutch Pavilion in the Giardini di Castello, Venice, Italy The Netherlands Architecture Institute invited Inside Outside to design the Dutch submission. With the exhibition Re-Set Inside Outside responds to the vacant architecture in the Netherlands. Showing how the experience of space itself can be changed by relatively simple interventions, Petra Blaisse demonstrates that architecture possesses the power to start a new life. One single mobile object occupies the space for three months and emphasises the building’s unique qualities. This object will flow through the interior, re-configure its organisation and create multiple rooms along the way. The experience of light, sound and space will be manipulated so that new perspectives emerge.

Installed 2012

Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Netherlands

Wallcovering for the new wing of the museum Client: Stedelijk Museum Architect: Benthem Crouwel Architects The 200-square-meter tapestry was developed in collaboration with Dutch carpet manufacturer Desso using innovative techniques. The design complements the architecture of the museum and connects A.W. Weissman’s original 1895 building with the new wing by Benthem Crouwel Architects. Containing allusions to the past, present and future of the Stedelijk, the tapestry also references the site’s pre-urban history. Installed 2012
