IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNINGS Driver Alert: Texting or inputting data while the vehicle is in motion is a violation of USDOT regulations and all driver input should be done while the vehicle is safely parked. The Zonar 2020 is a feature-rich mobile computing device that includes multiple applications designed to enhance the safety and efficiency of fleet vehicles. When using the Zonar 2020, or any of its applications, these safety rules must be followed to prevent accidents that can result in injury or death to yourself or others: • When mounting the 2020, care should be taken to ensure that the device does not obstruct the driver's view of the road, interfere with the operation of any of the vehicle's operator controls (such as turn signals) or safety devices, or present a danger to the driver or passengers of the vehicle should the device be dislodged while driving. It is your responsibility to assess the risks associated with the placement of the device in the vehicle you are operating, even if the device was positioned by another person. If you have any concerns over placement of the device in the vehicle you will be operating, please contact your supervisor. You may have identified a safety concern that others have missed. • Please note that certain states have restrictions regarding mounting of any devices on the windshield of a vehicle. If you are uncertain of the applicable regulations in the state in which you will be operating in, please either check the regulations yourself or request that your supervisor check the applicable regulations. It is your responsibility to comply with all traffic laws and regulations regarding mounting and using accessory devices such as the 2020. • When driving, the need to view the device display is minimal. Where possible, applications are designed to provide voice prompts to provide critical information to drivers while minimizing distractions. Certain applications, which require a high degree of user interaction, are locked out while the vehicle is in motion. Regardless, users are cautioned that drivers SHOULD NOT enter data into the device, or interact with any device applications (other than applications, such as navigation, that have been designed to provide information to the driver while the vehicle is moving in a manner that is not distracting), unless the vehicle is stationary. Only a vehicle passenger should enter data into the device, or interact with device applications, while the vehicle is moving. Drivers must not become distracted by the device while driving, and must always be fully aware of all driving conditions. • Please note that loading non-Zonar approved applications on the 2020 will void the warranty, and may lead to unsafe operating conditions. For example, non-Zonar approved applications may have been designed to require a high degree of user interaction from a driver during operation of the vehicle, which may lead to undesirable distractions for the driver. • Special notice to vehicle owners: Zonar advises that vehicle owners verify device placement acceptability with state DOT/Law Enforcement prior to installation. Distracted Driving Warning: Do not use this device while the vehicle is in motion or in any other driving situation. Using the device while driving can create dangerous situations where the driver may not be focused on the road or task at hand. Please note that the information provided in this document is subject to change without notice, and that product enhancements may occur without any formal notification. Please refer to the Zonar web site for device and application updates and additional information (http://www.zonarsystems.com/products/2020mobile-communication-device/).

2020 USER GUIDE

Introduction About the 2020 The Zonar 2020 is a rugged Android tablet, providing all-in-one technology for drivers to perform inspections, navigate routes, view workflows, manage tasks, send and receive messages, maintain electronic HOS records and receive driving performance feedback. Drivers and managers may easily access driver and vehicle information using Zonar’s Ground Traffic Control fleet management software to improve efficiency, productivity and safety across their organizations. The primary purpose of this guide is to walk users through the basic functions of the 2020. While we attempt to point out the most common operations and functions, please keep in mind that common sense, good housekeeping procedures, attention to detail and safety precautions are critical for the successful use and maintenance of the 2020. We also provide additional materials with and installed on the tablet, and found on the Zonar website to assist with day-to-day use. Help files located on the tablet provide deeper explanations of the functions and use of installed applications. Quick reference guides are included with the tablet so drivers may quickly reference basic functions. Lastly, our website contains information and resources for the 2020 and all Zonar products (http://www.zonarsystems.com). For additional support needs, a team of professional support technicians are available 24/7 at 1-877-8433847 or by email at [email protected].

Getting Started Requirements for Operation There are prerequisites that must be met before drivers or technicians will be able to log into the 2020 tablet. Ground Traffic Control is used to set up and configure organization, asset and driver information. Please refer to the Zonar GTC User Manual for full details on setting up and maintaining GTC. Before use, the following must be completed: 1. Driver profile has been created in GTC with the following required information: ü

First and Last Name

ü

Zonar Tag Number

ü

Home Base Location

2. Driver has been assigned a Driver ID in the form of card or number (Driver ID is also referred to as the Zonar Tag Number). 3. Driver has been assigned a PIN. 4. Organization and asset profiles have been setup in GTC. ü

Organization Profiles contain all of the organization-specific information and settings including which applications will be installed on the 2020 tablets. Asset Profiles contain all of the vehicle or asset-specific information in the organization.

5. Connection to the V3 telematics device has been established (for data transfer from the vehicle and GTC). 6. GSM connection has been established (cellular connection needed for data transfer between the V3 and GTC).

First-Time Boot-Up Typically, the installation technician performs the first-time boot up, downloads/installs any necessary updates, and accepts the license agreements for the 2020 and Navigation software. The first time the 2020 boots up after all software and applications are installed, the device performs a series of internal checks and tests to ensure that it is ready for use. The 2020 checks for cellular connection (GSM) and if established, updates the Organization and Asset Profiles. If the Navigation application is installed, the navigation warning message displays and needs to be accepted before continuing on. Next, the 2020 license agreement is displayed and also needs to be accepted. The Log In screen will then display, prompting for a Driver ID and PIN.

The Docking Station The 2020 docking station serves as the home for the tablet. Installed in the vehicle with a mounting device (see the hardware installation guide for more information), the dock charges the tablet while not in use and allows for direct communication with Zonar’s telematics device that collects and transmits information about the vehicle’s location and performance. NOTE: Some actions in the Zonar applications require that the 2020 be docked in order to transfer data to/from the telematics device, Zonar data servers and GTC.
