Description The HPE iLO subsystem is a standard component of HPE ProLiant servers that simplifies initial server setup, server health monitoring, power and thermal optimization, and remote server administration. The iLO subsystem includes an intelligent microprocessor, secure memory, and a dedicated network interface. This design makes iLO independent of the host server and its operating system. iLO enables and manages the HPE Active Health System and also features HPE Agentless Management. iLO monitors all key internal subsystems. When enabled, SNMP alerts are sent directly by iLO, regardless of the host operating system or whether a host operating system is installed. Embedded remote support software is available on ProLiant Gen8 and Gen9 servers with iLO 4, regardless of the operating system software and without installing OS agents on the server.

Update recommendation Recommended. Update to this firmware version if your system is affected by one of the documented fixes or to take advantage of the enhanced functionality provided by this version. IMPORTANT: If you are booting ESXi from the embedded SD card, HPE strongly recommends rebooting the server immediately after updating to iLO 4 v2.50.

Enhancements This version adds support for the following features and enhancements: •

Implemented garbage collection on the RESTful API allowing for automatic recovery in the case of bad or missing data.

Updates to the enclosure connection status (CPQSTSYS cpqSsBoxConnectionStatus) now correctly report when an enclosure is disconnected or reconnected, and sends trap cpqSsConnectionStatusChange where appropriate.

Added protection to the lifespan of the embedded 4GB non-volatile storage (NAND) by implementing a daily write count limit that is well above the normal daily activity. This ensures a runaway process will not inadvertently write to the NAND excessively, leading to eventual failure.

Changed the default certificate signing to SHA-256.

Added support for IP addresses in the SubjectAltName of the iLO SSL certificate.

Shared Network Port selection—Allows the choice between port 1 and port 2 for Shared Network Port functionality. Configure this setting in the iLO web interface by navigating to Network+Shared Network Port+General. NOTE:

Not all sideband NICs are supported. In some cases, port 2 may not be fully functional.

Enhancements

Fixes The following issues are resolved in this version: •

Dynamic Power Capping still works when set to disabled.

Server may shut down after repeated insertion and removal of hot-plug power input modules for RPS backplanes.

Repeated LDAP tests cause iLO LDAP User Authentication to fail.

The reporting of location discovery services data via the RESTful API on ML/DL servers failed even with iLO Advanced license installed.

Rare memory leak that could lead to slow or failed iLO interfaces due to unverified data returns from unregistered providers.

Corrected the link on the direct connect registration page to point to www.hpe.com/support/hpesc instead of www.hpe.com/services/hpesc.

OA communication issue after OneView SPP update.

Status of pure Fibre Channel cards show up as Unknown in Network Tab of iLO System Information.

External Rest Providers removed after upgrading BIOS, booting, and then resetting iLO.

Rarely a GET to the SNMP MIB will fail.

Rarely updates using HPSUT fail.

iLOs won't join Federation group or respond to SSDP requests if DHCPv4 is configured but an IP address is not obtained at iLO boot time.

Prev/Next links and list behavior of iLO federation were not consistent.

Security fixes/enhancements:

Improved AlertMail message body encoding.

CBC Mode ciphers disabled in FIPS/AES Modes (both Webserver and SSH).

RC4 has been removed from the default cipher list.

3DES and SHA-1 are disabled in FIPS mode.

Known issues The following issues are known for this release: •

On XL platforms with one or more HPE InfiniBand 100Gb 2-port 840QSFP28 installed there may be occasional communication issues with HPE Apollo Chassis Firmware.

In some situations, the idle timeout may fail to log you out of the iLO web interface. Manually log out of iLO to mitigate this issue. An Integrated Remote Console session will correctly timeout if there is no keyboard, mouse, or virtual media activity for the timeout duration.

Due to a known issue in v53.0.2785.101 and v53.0.2785.116 of Chrome, the menu on the left side of the iLO web interface will not display. Use a different browser or newer version of Chrome. http://h20564.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c05289343. The issue has been reported to Chrome. If necessary, zoom in/out to force the screen to repaint properly.

Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 2016 defaults to JavaScript disabled. You must enable Active Scripting to use the iLO Web Interface.

The Java IRC requires a Java Runtime Environment. For more information, see http:// www.java.com.

Google Chrome version 42 and later does not support the Java plug-in. The following alternatives are available:

Windows users: Use the Java IRC Java Web Start application.

Linux users with Oracle JRE: Use the Java IRC Java Web Start application.

Linux users with OpenJDK JRE: Use the Java IRC applet.

The .NET IRC requires one of the following versions of the .NET Framework:

.NET Framework 3.5 Full (SP1 recommended)

.NET Framework 4.0 Full

.NET Framework 4.5

.NET Framework 4.6

For Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and 10, a supported version of the .NET Framework is included in the OS. The .NET Framework is also available at the Microsoft Download Center: http:// www.microsoft.com/download. The .NET Framework versions 3.5 and 4.0 have two deployment options: Full and Client Profile. The Client Profile is a subset of the Full framework. The .NET IRC is supported with the Full framework only; the Client Profile is not supported. Version 4.5 and later of the .NET Framework do not have the Client Profile option. •

The .NET IRC is launched using Microsoft ClickOnce, which is part of the .NET Framework.
