Vasco Lucas Nunes has worked extensively in media production as a producer, director and cinematographer in five continents while living in Europe and the US over the last two decades. Nunes advertising Director/DP work include commercials for Walmart, Proctor & Gamble, Frederique Constant Watches commercials, Lomo Cameras, media for the Lincoln Center, a Worldwide Raffle with Cristiano Ronaldo, as well as Rock Corps campaign. In Music Media he directed and captured the Juanes performance for Soundcheck in Puerto Rico 2010, and has an ongoing collaboration with Lyle Lovett since 2007. In the Documentary form – “Recycle” (winner of International Cinematographer’s Guild award and featured at Cannes and Sundance), a directorial collaboration during a cross oceanic yacht race on the tall ship Lynx in 2009, and the long form “Its Not Big Its Large” depicting Lyle Lovett in studio and on the road, the first ever documented such access. He acted as a field DP/Director for DIG!, Nimrod Nation, Lollapalooza, Planet BBoy. As a producer Nunes has been working in the documentary form since his first ventures in media and journalism. His first feature project in 1997 in the Amazon jungle led to a passion for filmmaking that has taken him to the corners of the planet. His films have garnered wide exposure at all major festivals and have been distributed internationally, two have won Grand Jury Prizes at Sundance ("DIG!" 2004, "We Live In Public" 2009), both included in the permanent collection of the th MoMA in NYC. He Executive Produced and Photographed ‘Mind over Mania’ (MSNBC, Nov 6 , 2011) which won the Cine Golden Eagle Investigative News Award 2012, and most recently was the cinematographer for ‘Oprah Builds a Network’ th across the East and West Coast (OWN, July 8 , 2012). He completed work on a Gary Baseman documentary, and Magnolia/Universal’s 2015 release ‘Sunshine Superman, for which he carried both cinematographer and producer hats. His early experience included specialized commercial cinematography and live national broadcasts in Europe, as well as journalism for CNN at its headquarters in the US. After completing his masters in cinematography at AFI in Los Angeles, his work as a cinematographer has spanned features, major commercial campaigns, documentaries, and music projects. Nunes has lenses national campaigns for Budweiser, State Farm, Rock Corps, and US Cellular, including re-branding the MTV logo, which in 2010 was changed for the first time in 35 years. In the last decade his music video work has included collaborations with Katie Perry, Nicky Minaj, Santogold, David Lee Roth, DMC, OK GO, and MIA. Nunes’ documentary cinematography has had extensive international theatrical distribution ("Planet B Boy", "DIG!", "Anvil", "American Teen", "We Live In Public"), most of which garnered awards at major festivals. His Foray into Features includes Rooth Tang’s Sway nd photographed in Paris with Lulu Hwang, B Cam and Underwater DP for Oren Moverman’s ‘Rampart’, 2 Unit for Sony’s 3D Release ‘Battle of the Year’, and DP for Universal’s 2015 release ‘Sunshine Superman’. In Broadcast/Cable his documentary work include Peabody winner, "Nimrod Nation", as well as the Opening Credit Sequence he shot for the "Tonight Show w/ Jay Leno", the MTV logo Rebranding, Budweiser’s “RedWhiteBlue”, and the global campaign for Chevy & One World Futbol, along with Lexus, Nissan and Toyota Commercials. Collaborations on art films in the US and in Europe, include critical acclaim at the Whitney Biennial 2010 for Kerry Tribe's "H.M." as well as entering the permanent collection of MoMA.
