Description

Accessing ASPEN Teacher Pages and ASPEN Calendar Aspen Pages is replacing the traditional teacher website. From now on you will be able to securely access with a user name and password, your student’s attendance, grades, assignments, and instructional resources from one location inside the Aspen Family Portal. Adding Teacher Pages for yourself and your student(s): 1. Login to Family Portal https://sis.cherokee.k12.ga.us/aspen/logon 2. Go to the Home page or Pages tab. 3. Click Page Directory.

The following pop-up appears:

Note: If you have more than one student, you will see the Pages for each student. It will indicate “Pages Student 1 is a Member of” and then below it will say “Pages Student 2 is a Member of”. 4. For each of your students, click Add under each icon/name of the Page or teacher’s Page you want to add to your Quick Access menu. 5. Click Add under the name/icon of any public Pages you want to add. Note: You can browse public Pages and add them to your Quick Access menu, but this does not mean that you are a member of the group. For example, if your school Page is a public Page, you would be able to read entries that are posted but not create your own entries. 6. Click Close. The Pages you selected are accessible from your Quick Access menu.

7. Once you have clicked Close it will redirect you back to the main Aspen Page. You will notice a Shortcut has been created called Academics.

8. Each time you log in, you will click on the word Academics and it will list your student’s courses vertically in the Quick Access menu.

9. If you want to view a teacher’s Aspen Page, click on the teacher’s name in the Quick Access Menu. This will show you their Aspen Page. The Aspen Page will provide you with current information about the courses, information about the teacher and how to contact the teacher as well as instructional resources.

Aspen Student/Parent Calendar Another feature for parents and students is the Calendar. The Calendar can provide you with up to date assignments and resources. Great uses regarding the Calendar are:    

Ability to see daily classroom events. Ability to access electronic resources such as documents, presentations, and web links. Ability to see future assignments, projects, daily work and tests and prepare for those. Ability to access assignments due to absence from class.

To access the Calendar, click the word Calendar in the menu across the top.

Once the Calendar opens, it can be viewed by the day, week, or month view. If you have more than one student enrolled in the district, you will be able to use the drop down to flip between student Calendars.

To view an item on the Calendar, double-click on the item and the item’s details will display. If the item has an attachment, the attachment will be linked at the bottom of the page. Double-click on the attachment to view it.

Once you have double-clicked on the item you want to view, you will see all of the details such as assignment name, the date it was assigned, the date it is due and the score. If the assignment has an attachment, you can open the attachment under the section that says resources provided by teacher.

Options for Filtering and Organizing the Calendar Parents and students have the option to turn on and off the weekend view in the calendar and also reminders. To do this, go to Options and Calendar Settings.

Find the two boxes with check marks labeled weekend and activate reminders.

By “unchecking” the box called weekend, it will only display the Monday through Friday view. By “unchecking” the box called activate reminders, this will only display the date an item is due verses the date it was assigned. Note: If the parent/student wants to see the entire date span for an item, the date it was assigned, all of the days the student has to work on the assignment, and the due date, leave the box that says deactivate reminders checked. You can see this in the screenshot below where some items appear lighter and then bold. The lighter boxes are the days the student can work on the item, the bold is the due date.

Parents and students have the option to change the color of the classes. This is highly recommended so both the student and the parent can easily find each class. As a suggestion, decide on a color for a specific subject or class. For example: Math is Blue, Science is Green, Social Studies is Yellow…

To change the colors, go to Options and Calendar Settings.

On this page it will display all of the courses the student is enrolled in and a box with a corresponding color.

Click on a colored box. A grid will appear with different color options. A suggestion is to choose a color from the vertical column on the far left, they are the brightest and easiest to see.
